Purpose:
The Office of Institutional Planning and Analysis (OIPA) supports the University to better enable informed decision making by providing effective planning, expert analysis, research and advice, and guided access and interpretation to high-quality institutional data. OIPA leads and supports the following: Data and Analytics Strategy, Data Governance, Integrated Resource Planning, Institutional Research and Analysis, and Strategic Intelligence and Predictive Analytics. OIPA is involved in and leads numerous projects including: (a) survey design, implementation and analysis, (b) market research, strategic insights and foresight analysis, (c) impact evaluation (d) advanced predictive analytics, (e) enrolment projections, analysis, monitoring, and internal reporting, (f) accountability reporting, (g) support to numerous strategic planning and resourcing processes, (h) faculty analysis and reporting, (i) external statistical reporting to government agencies, (j) rankings, (k) data governance and strategy. Reporting to the Director, Strategic Intelligence and Predictive Analytics, and with occasional direction from the AVP Institutional Planning and Chief Data Officer, the Institutional Survey Researcher role is the research and technical lead for the implementation and analysis of a wide range of institutional surveys including key surveys that impact institutional funding and reputation. The role applies survey, measurement and sampling theories and methods, statistics, data visualization techniques, and a range of survey modalities and tools. This role supports strategy and resource decision-making at York University by providing survey-based insights that address real-world questions of strategic importance to the University. This role leads survey projects that furnish insights about attitudes, opinions, preferences, experiences, behaviours and outcomes within populations of interest. These projects will drive decisions that enable student success and inform activities through out the full student lifecycle and beyond. The role undertakes surveys and analyses of institutional data in support of Faculty Relations and Labour Relations.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
Experience:
5 years of experience working in applied survey research, both designing and implementing surveys.
Experience managing, integrating and analyzing data across multiple surveys.
Experience using online survey platforms such as Qualtrics, Voxco, QuestionPro, etc.
Experience with statistical program languages such as SPSS, SAS, R, Python.
Skills:
Effective knowledge of relevant measurement theories and evidence-based best practices in question and questionnaire design and testing.
Advanced knowledge of survey methodology, covering both probability and non-probability sampling approaches, including recent advances in survey modalities.
In-depth knowledge of relevant statistical analysis techniques and methods used to develop and test surveys and analyze response data.
Familiarity with applied survey research in the context of higher education institutional research.
Familiarity with data privacy regulations and ethical considerations in survey research.
Familiarity with the broad range of research methods in social sciences, psychology and education and how they relate to survey research.Skills

*Compensation:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
