Purpose:

They are responsible for office and furniture moves, and transportation of waste bins, construction materials, and other large items. Additionally, the Driver manages the handling and delivery of supplies and provides essential support to the Grounds, Fleet, and Waste Management team.
Education:
Must hold and maintain a valid minimum Class 'F' driver's licence and have a driving record acceptable to the University.
Experience:
A minimum of two years' recent experience (as defined within the last 5 years) in driving larger trucks and/or operating large tractors. Experience moving heavy furniture, equipment, or other large items is required.
Skills:
- Must be able to safely and efficiently lift and load large heavy materials (ex. office furniture) and safely operate large trucks/trailers
- Demonstrates safe and defensive driving habits and knowledge of the duties of a Commercial Driver per the Ontario Highway Traffic Act
- Demonstrates knowledge of load securement, transportation of hazardous materials, and vehicle load distribution
- Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must show initiative
- Demonstrates customer service and teamwork skills
- Respects diversity and promotes inclusion in the workplace, contributes to an inclusive and diverse team-based, positive work environmentMust have demonstrated ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English as the incumbent receives and conveys messages by mobile device. Able to carry out daily routine tasks with minimum supervision.
