Purpose:
The Faculty Lead, Black Community Health serves in this capacity for the York University School of Medicine.The Faculty Lead, Black Health plays a critical role in advising on the integration of Black Community health content into the Undergraduate Medical Education Program (UGME). Working closely with faculty, staff, students, and community partners, this role ensures that the curriculum addresses the health disparities, cultural competencies, and historical contexts essential for improving healthcare outcomes for Black communities. Reporting to the Dean of Record, School of Medicine, this role will also collaborate with committee members to drive the development and delivery of inclusive medical education.The role demonstrates a commitment to promoting decolonization, diversity, equity, and inclusion in medical education and fostering a culture of excellence, professionalism, and lifelong learning.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in related field
Master's Degree in a related field.
Regulated Health Professional (registered and in good standing with the respective College) Please note: This position requires verification of required degrees, training and credentials.

Experience:

3 years of experience with community relations in Black communities and who, via experience and/or expertise in Black health issues, can provide guidance on curriculum, admissions and research. Lived experience strongly preferred.

Skills:
Knowledge Requirements:
Comprehensive knowledge of Black Community health issues, including health disparities, social determinants of health, and structural racism as they relate to medical education.
Knowledge of community relations practices, particularly within Black communities, to support effective engagement and guidance on curriculum .
Knowledge of curriculum design and assessment methods focused on cultural competencies and inclusive education.
Awareness of decolonization, diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and their application in medical education.
Knowledge of York University's mission and commitment to diversity and inclusive education.

Ability to negotiate and resolve conflict effectively.
Ability to work in collaborative in-person and virtual teams.
Ability to meet pressured and tight deadlines and outcomes.
Leadership skills to co-chair the Black Community Health Advisory Committee, and guiding curriculum discussions.
Research and analytical skills to support studies on Black Community health and to evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum changes.
Ability to design and implement evaluation tools to assess the impact of Black health education on student knowledge and competencies.

Compensation:

Hourly Range: $47.91-$52.01 per hour
