Purpose:
This position contributes to the success of the School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design by providing specialized technical support to Visual Arts courses, studios, faculty members, undergraduate students and graduate students in the Department of Visual Art and Art History.

Education:
B.F.A. degree or equivalent, with knowledge of darkroom photography, digital and film based photographic processes, screen based and projection technology and fine arts computer applications or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below. Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Experience:
Two years recent (as defined within the last five years) and related experience such as demonstration, monitoring inventory, scheduling, evaluating equipment, etc., preferably in a post-secondary or teaching environment.

Skills:
Demonstrated skills including:
Dealing courteously and effectively with people
Excellent oral communication skills to clearly explain techniques and demonstrate use of equipment and safety procedures
Good written communications skills
Excellent organizational skills including the ability to work independently, set priorities and meet deadlinesDemonstrated technical skills:- Ability to demonstrate the following processes:
Darkroom and associated chemistry usage
Labeling and waste disposal
Film development and printing
Digital and film-based processing of photos
Lighting processes- Ability to demonstrate the following equipment:
A variety of digital and manual cameras
Enlargers
Lighting kits and lighting set-ups
ProjectorsDemonstrated computer skills including:
Digital imaging applications (Macintosh based, Adobe Creative Suite software)
Photo based and interactive Media applications (Flash, Fireworks, MAX/MSP)
Apple operating systems
Basic Word processing (MS Word)
Basic Spreadsheet software (MS Excel)
Email (Outlook)

Additional Notes:
Please note: This position requires the candidate to produce a verification of degree(s), credentials(s), or equivalencies from accredited institutions and/or international equivalents at the time of interview.Hours of work: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with possible flexible time during academic term depending on class schedules (e.g., 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.)
