Purpose:
Employees in this position are required to perform a wide variety of semiskilled labour in connection with the maintenance and improvement of university grounds.

Education:
Successful applicant must obtain a W.H.M.I.S. certificate prior to the completion of the probationary or trial period. The applicant must have a Pesticide Technician Certificate or enroll in an MOE approved Pesticide Technician Program and successfully complete the same within a 60 day *trial/probationary period. The training will be provided by the University at no expense to the incumbent

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years' recent grounds care and maintenance experience, including some knowledge of the maintenance requirements of plant materials OR equivalent combination of experience and academic training. Satisfactory work record required

Skills:
Ability to shovel (snow, dirt) and lift heavy equipment and materials. Demonstrated ability to lift and move heavy objects. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Knowledge of maintenance requirements of plant materials. Applicant for this position must satisfactorily complete a test pertaining to basic knowledge in grounds keeping.
