Purpose:
The Athletic Therapist supports the full time staff in enhancing the student athlete experience and supporting a high performance team environment in Varsity Athletics. The Athletic Therapist, under the direction of the Manager, Sport Medicine, serves as the clinic and field athletic therapist for varsity teams. This position requires commitment and adherence to the values and principles of Athletics & Recreation as expressed in the mandate of the department.
Education:
Educational Requirements
- Certified Athletic Therapist, C.A.T.(C)
- Member in good standing with the Canadian Athletic Therapists' Association
- Current First Aid, First Responder, AED and CPR certifications
- Graduate of the York University Athletic Therapy Certificate
Experience:
Experience Requirements
- 1-2 years experience working with Varsity Athletics
Skills:
Skills (Specialized knowledge)
- Demonstrated effective skills/abilities in the following areas: injury assessment and treatment skills. sport therapy modality use. on field injury management. knowledge and application of injury preventive systems and techniques. organizational skills. interpersonal skills. ability to work as part of a team. record keeping.
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. supervisory skills. ability to operate in consonance with established policies and protocols.
Additional Notes:
Physical Demands Periodic basic keyboarding, accessing files and entering basic information.Regular intermittent sitting, standing, moving around.Regular crouching, bending, kneeling, stretching.Working Conditions and HazardsWorking in sports injury clinic mainly open area with background noise/lack of privacy. Working with tools or equipment and performing tasks that require the use of protective measures/devices and/or specific health and safety training.
Compensation
Hourly Range: $28.00 - $29.00
