Purpose:
Facilities Services is a team of professionals who are committed to the delivery of support services that strive to enhance the quality of campus life for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors. With a commitment to sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion, Facilities Services works with campus partners to provide exceptional customer service and satisfaction in alignment with the University's core values.Employees in this position are required to operate a large variety of trucks, tractors and equipment in connection with the maintenance and improvement of University grounds, roads, walks, athletic fields, and parking lots as well as support the Grounds team.

Education:
High School Diploma. Must hold valid minimum Class D' driver's licence with Z' air brake endorsement and have a driving record acceptable to the University. Please note: This position requires the successful candidate maintain a valid Driver's License and a produce a satisfactory Driver's Abstract. The successful candidate would have to provide proof of a valid Driver's License and a satisfactory Driver's Abstract upon being hired.

Experience:
Must have a minimum of three years' recent experience in the operation of vocational trucks over 11,000 kg (i.e. dump trucks, refuse trucks, roll-off trucks, heavy tow trucks, highway ploughs), plus demonstratedexperience in the operation of at least three of the following types of equipment:
- Cargo trailers and tow-behind equipment
- Dock plates, tailgates, pallet trucks, and other furniture-moving equipment
- Truck-mounted snow ploughs and spreaders
- Large agricultural tractors with implements, especially athletic field maintenance equipment
- Skid-steers, wheel loaders, and articulated loaders
- Backhoes and excavators

- Demonstrated ability to lift and move materials
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills
- Must show initiative
- Must demonstrate Customer Service and teamwork skills
- Respects diversity and promotes inclusion in the workplace, contributes to an inclusive and diverse team-based, positive work environmentMust have a good mechanical aptitude for servicing and assisting with repairs to vehicles and equipment. Able to carry out daily routine with minimum supervision. All applicants selected to participate in the recruitment process for this position must satisfactorily complete a practical test pertaining to the job duties.

Physical demands involved in this position:
- Constant walking
- Frequent lifting/pushing/moving of items up to 50 pounds
- Frequent moving of bulky and/or heavy furniture objects with dollies
- Frequent climbing, twisting, pushing/pulling, leaning
- Bending and kneeling to complete some activities
- Climbing of ladders and stairsWorking Conditions:
- Outdoor work in various weather conditions
- Required use of telephone/radio/smartphone and various applications May 1 to November 15 - works day shift November 16 to April 30 - works night shift rotation or alternative shifts as required
