Purpose:
The Laboratory Support Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Chemistry laboratory under the direction of the Operations Manager.

Education:
Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or degree in a laboratory technician program or related field

Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of related work experience conducting organic and inorganic synthesis and preparing laboratory reagents in a chemistry laboratory.

Skills:

- Proficient with various chemical instrumentation (pH/mV meters, atomic absorption spectrometers, ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrometers, balances, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatographs, and potentiostats etc.)
- Ability to demonstrate organizational skills to carry out a variety of tasks.
- Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with others.
- Completion of WHMIS Level II Safety Training.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to exercise judgement and decision making.
- Ability to understand and demonstrate instructions, policies and procedures.

Additional Notes:
Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
