Purpose:
The Physician Engagement Manager will provide strategic planning on the development and implementation of a comprehensive physician engagement strategy to recruit, retain and support clinical faculty at the School of Medicine (SoM). With a strong foundation in communications, community relations, and project execution, the Manager is accountable for translating institutional priorities into actionable plans that foster long-term clinical faculty engagement and alignment with the School of Medicine's academic, clinical and community mandates. This role exercises independent judgement in leading the design and delivery of targeted clinician and physician outreach campaigns, engagement events, and communications, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and fostering enduring strategic partnerships with physicians and clinicians across the School of Medicine's teaching communities.Reporting to the Director, Integrated Community-based Learning Network (ICLN), the Manager collaborates with a physician leadership group to guide and support outreach, recruitment, appointment application and professional development activities in support of the School of Medicine's teaching, clinical service delivery, scholarship and research, leadership, and community mandate. The Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping the clinical faculty culture, advising on strategic opportunities, and ensuring the School of Medicine's physician engagement efforts are responsive, inclusive, and future-focused.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
Experience:
5 years related experience such as marketing, recruitment and/or public relations in a clinical and/or medical education environment.
3 years management experience.
Experience in physician engagement, relationship management, and clinician professional development. Experience in communications and project management.
Experience working in a large complex organization and in a unionized environment is an asset.
Experience working in academic health sciences, distributed medical education, or community-based healthcare an asset.
Skills:
Knowledge
Knowledge of effective marketing, communication, education and recruitment methodologies for a physician audience.
Knowledge of project-appropriate evaluation, project management and change management methodologies.
Knowledge of the medical profession and/or primary health care.
Knowledge of human resources, labour relations, labour law, learning and development, employee engagement, culture development, health and safety legislation.
Skills
Effective communication skills for presentations, public speaking, relationship management.
Ability to translate complex concepts into clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences.
Proficient in developing and using marketing and communication tools for client relationship management and developing materials such as CANVA, PowerPoint, Excel.
Effective interpersonal skills to build trust and credibility with physicians, healthcare administrators, and university staff and leadership.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Advanced time management and organizational skills with experience in developing and executing workback plans, timelines, and deliverables.
Demonstrated ability to plan, promote, and facilitate in-person and virtual events.
Ability to anticipate partner needs, synthesize feedback, and develop engagement strategies.
Demonstrated ability to design and support change management or culture-building initiatives.
Ability to use content management systems such as SharePoint, CRM tools, Zoom/Teams, and survey/evaluation platforms.
Understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they apply to healthcare and academic environments.
Skilled in building inclusive relationships with diverse physician and community groups, fostering trust and mutual understanding.
Additional Notes:
Note: Requires verification of degrees/credentialsNormal office work environment. Travels across the School of Medicine service area and other York campuses. Must be able to work flexible hours when required for special events and activities including weekends and evenings (e.g., conferences, primary care network meetings etc.)

*Compensation:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
