Purpose:
The Office of the University Registrar (OUR) serves York's prospective and current students by supporting recruitment, admissions, registrarial functions, grades, academic standing, financial aid, and student services. The OUR offers a student-centered service from initial contact through to graduation.The Manager, Student Financial Processing (SFP), under the Director of Student Financial Services, will manage unit operations and improve processes related to student financial aid and student account activity. Leading a team of SFP Assistants, the Manager will foster a student-centered environment to enhance financial accountability and literacy. They will also collaborate with the Student Support & Advising unit to ensure alignment in financial service processing. The Manager, SFP is a student-focused professional who embodies the values of Courage, Connection, and Empathy, promoting service excellence and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). This role collaborates with various university teams to deliver excellent financial processing services to students.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, such as Finance, Accounting, Business
Experience:
- 5 years minimum related experience,
- 3 years of managerial experience, with some experience managing student accounts administration or financial aid processing or program administration.
- Experience in a post-secondary environment
- Extensive experience working with a high volume of client and account information on large online databases.
- Experience in financial management, and a demonstrated understanding of budget development. billing operations, collections, grants and loans
- Supervisory experience in a unionized environment
Skills:
Knowledge
- Knowledge of general accounting procedures and financial controls.
- Thorough knowledge of OSAP policies, procedures, and its related programs.
- Thorough understanding of university regulations, policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of accounting and business practices and procedures to include quality controls, audit control, government regulations, compliance and customer service.Skills
- Demonstrated team leadership skills with the ability to foster a positive, respectful, inclusive environment. Ability to manage and evaluate performance and productivity.
- Effective interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders to support the coordination of student services.
- Effective verbal, written communication, and presentation skills to provide detailed explanation, effectively articulate ideas, and promote involvement.
- Effective planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet timelines.
- Skilled in large computerized systems/databases.
- Advanced financial management skills and the ability to manage funds effectively from a variety of sources.

*Compensation:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
