Purpose:
The Nursing Simulation Centre (NSC) replicates a hospital setting and provides undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Nursing with opportunities to apply classroom learning through hands on experiential education, using simulated teaching-learning strategies. Simulation education supports learning in a low-risk environment and introduces learners to increasingly complex scenarios. The NSC enables students to practice their clinical skills in a controlled environment before caring for real patients. Under the direction of the Manager, Simulation Centre Operations, and the functional direction of the Director, Nursing Simulation Centre (NSC), the Simulation Centre Coordinator is the first point of contact for student and faculty requests related to NSC services, technology, and resources, and acts as a contact for internal and external partners. The Simulation Centre Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day NSC activities, including the preparation, maintenance, inventory, and set-up of lab/simulation technology, equipment and supplies. Under the guidance of the Manager and Director, the role implements scheduled simulation learning activities and ensures adherence to program policies, procedures, current simulation best practices, health and safety standards and confidentiality requirements. The Simulation Centre Coordinator supports the vision, mission, values and strategic direction of the Faculty of Health, School of Nursing, and York University. The role contributes to a positive, student-focused team environment that emphasizes high performance, respect, trust, collaboration, continuous improvement, diversity, equity and inclusion.
Education:
Community College diploma in Health, Business, Information Technology or related field or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
Experience:
Two (2) years of recent related experience dealing with the set-up and coordination of technology, equipment and supplies in a health or science related environment. Inventory control experience is also required.

Additional Notes:
Please note: This position requires the candidate to produce a verification of degree(s), credentials(s), or equivalencies from accredited institutions and/or international equivalents at the time of interview. Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week. This position requires flexible hours to allow for evening shifts on a rotating basis. Shifts are scheduled by the Manager, Simulation Centre Operations. Summer: Same. Overtime may be necessary during peak periods. Peak periods for this position: Last two weeks of September, October, and January.Hours during peak periods: As scheduled by the Manager based on operational needs. Vacation restriction: Last two weeks of August and the whole month of September and January.
