Purpose:

Schulich enrolls approximately 3,000 students annually in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate business. Located in Toronto, Canada, the School's multimillion-dollar, award-winning complex is on York University's main campus. Schulich's downtown Miles S. Nadal Management Centre is situated in the heart of the city's financial district. The Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement builds long-term and highly engaged relationships with stakeholders including alumni, corporations, foundations, students, faculty, and friends that advance the school's strategic priorities through volunteerism, mentorship, philanthropy, and other engagement activities.Reporting to the Director, Major Gifts and Campaign (Director) and providing support to the Executive Director, Advancement and Alumni Engagement (Executive Director), the Advancement Officer, Alumni Giving at the Schulich School of Business is responsible for the activities related to the cultivation, solicitation, recognition and stewardship of a portfolio of alumni prospects and donors for the Schulich School of Business at York University.

Education:

Post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and fundraising experience, specifically in an educational setting.
Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation an asset.

Experience:

A minimum of five (5) years related experience in professional fundraising, inclusive significant exposure to stewardship and planned giving. University fundraising, individual or alumni giving, and major campaign experience an asset.

Skills:
Knowledge
Knowledge of the development process and a proven track record with leadership giving, corporate philanthropy, prospect management, and campaigns.
Knowledge of prospect research techniques and sources. Skills
Effective oral communication skills including the ability to make highly effective formal and informal presentations to diverse groups, large and small.
Effective written communication skills including the ability to write for the university and fundraising environment to advance fundraising cases for support and to develop strategic advancement plans.
Ability to identify and leverage new opportunities for development.
Ability to build relationships, negotiate and influence, and manage change in a complex environment.
Excellent time management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, set priorities, meet deadlines.
Strong planning, organizational and project management skills with the ability to multi-task and comprehend new information quickly and balance priorities.
Ability to exercise judgement, discretion, problem solving skills and initiative complemented by good analytical skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills with tact and diplomacy.
Ability to listen actively in order to obtain and relay information accurately.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
 

Additional Notes:

Normal office environment (actual and/or virtual).
Regular travel for meetings, conferences, and events. Occasional travel outside of the GTA may be required.
Fast-paced environment requiring flexibility in hours and days of work.

*Compensation:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award. Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.Visit the CPM Compensation page on the HR Website to find out more about York's CPM Compensation Program.
