Purpose:
Housed within the office of the Vice-Provost Faculty, the Faculty Affairs department works to broaden and deepen York's intellectual communities by concentrating on bringing new ideas and talent to York, via faculty recruitment, and helping employees thrive through faculty retention and development. Under the direction of the Vice-Provost Faculty, the Faculty Development Lead role, in conjunction with the Academic Resource Coordinator role and the Immigration and Relocation Officer is responsible for carrying out confidential, crucial and highly sensitive faculty-related functions and for assessing, designing and implementing process improvements to support faculty members' careers and their academic leadership roles at York. The role also provides efficient, professional and confidential executive support that is broad, varied and often of a confidential nature. Frequent exposure to sensitive information requiring considerable use of initiative, tact, diplomacy, discretion, and excellent judgement. The role will assess the importance and urgency of issues or problems that arise, addresses issues, or alerts the relevant leadership of potential problems or conflicts. This position is responsible for balancing the complex and competing priorities of the area which involves strategically meeting the demands of a challenging, diverse, and high-volume environment. The role supports the vision, mission, values, and strategic direction of the University, and regularly has access to highly confidential staff and organizational information. Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
Experience:
3 years of related experience.
Experience working with Faculty in a post-secondary institution.
Experience providing a full range of specialized support to a Senior Leader in a highly complex institutional environment.
Skills:
Knowledge of post-secondary academic priorities, continuous improvements, and service excellence principles.
Knowledge of Finance and Procurement policies and procedures.
Knowledge of workforce planning, budgeting and financial management, process improvement and change management.
Knowledge of the priorities and political trends in higher education and a demonstrated understanding of university culture and experience with partner relations.
Familiarity with University/faculty policies which may influence or impact academic faculty and non-academic employee relations, combined with an in-depth understanding of collective agreements in both University academic and non-academic employment.
Effective transformative, service minded leadership skills to foster innovation, engaged thinking and generation of ideas.
Ability to foster an environment of trust, support and accountability while modelling respect for employees.
Ability to develop and/or lead cohesive teams and manage performance and productivity.

Able to engage and persuade others, particularly those in senior leadership roles.

*Compensation:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
