Purpose:
Facilities Services is a team of professionals who are committed to the delivery of support services that strive to enhance the quality of campus life for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors. With a commitment to sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion, Facilities Services works with campus partners to provide exceptional customer service and satisfaction in alignment with the University's core values.The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for ensuring all University Fleet vehicles are repaired and maintained in good condition. The fleet consists of over 160 units with a large variety of uses. We have a contingent of electric and hybrid vehicles, as well as diesel and gasoline.

Education:
High School graduation or equivalent. 310T Truck and Coach Technician Certification is required. Preference for valid Class 'DZ' license in good standing. Please note: This position requires the successful candidate to maintain a valid Driver's License and produce a satisfactory Driver's Abstract. The successful candidate would have to provide proof of a valid Driver's License and a satisfactory Driver's Abstract upon being hired.

Experience:
A minimum of three years directly related recent experience working on heavy trucks. Extensive experience in maintenance of hydraulic systems related to trucks and other equipment. Welding and fabricating experience is an asset. Small engine repair experience is an asset. EV/Hybrid fleet exposure is an asset.

- Ability to read and understand diagrams, books and manuals
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment
- Ability to learn quickly
- Ability to perform maintenance and do basic bodywork
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and interact with a variety of coworkers
- Familiar with software, electronics, and software-based diagnostic tools
- Familiar with agricultural tractors, loaders, skid-steers, golf carts and hybrid vehicles, small engines, tools and implements, snow clearing equipment
- Respects diversity and promotes inclusion in the workplace, contributes to an inclusive and diverse team-based, positive work environment

Additional Notes:

- Must have demonstrated ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English.
- Any applicant for this position must satisfactorily complete a knowledge test pertaining to the job duties.

Location: This position will operate out of the Keele Campus and include travel between Keele, Glendon, and Markham campuses as required.
