Purpose:
Markham Campus (MC) will embed York University in the heart of one of the most diverse and dynamic urban communities in the province and country. Reporting to the Director, Lab Operations and working under the direction of the AMPD Creative Technologies (CT) faculty head, the Creative Technologies, Lab and Media Assistant supports day-to-day activities in the labs by assisting users, monitoring equipment, coordinating bookings, and ensuring spaces are prepared and operational. The role provides routine guidance to students and casual staff, supports introductory workshops, set-up and take-down of labs to meet weekly academic schedules and assists with basic troubleshooting of equipment and software. The role ensures a welcoming, functional environment that enables teaching, research and learning.

Education:
College diploma in a related field such as media production, digital media, information & communication technology or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks.

Experience:
One year of experience providing technical support in a media lab, digital media environment, computer lab, or similar setting.
Experience assisting users with basic equipment or software inquiries.

Skills:
Effective organizational and communication skills.
Ability to explain basic media and technology concepts to users.
Customer service orientation and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Ability to follow established procedures and maintain accurate records.
Knowledge of coordinating schedules or daily activities in an instructional or service environment

Technical Skills:
Basic MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to use Adobe Creative Suite.
Familiarity with common audiovisual or media equipment (cameras, microphones, VR headsets).
Ability to troubleshoot media equipment and software.
Ability to support simple media creation tasks (e.g., recording, basic editing).
Ability to learn new tools and processes with training.
