Purpose:
Under the general direction of the Director, Global Engagement and Partnerships and in collaboration with York University Faculties and partner administrative units, the Manager, Global Partnerships provides strategic leadership, stewardship and management of York University's global partnerships that align with its institutional priorities including the University Academic Plan and the Global Engagement and Internationalization Strategy. In addition, the role will support the work of York University's senior administration, Faculties and York International leadership team in the development of sustainable and strategic international partnerships and global engagement. The role focuses on York University's international profile, international linkages and engagement providing communication and engagement supports to audiences within York and external/international partners, conducts thorough reviews and analyses of international partnerships as they relate to the University's UAP and internationalization priorities, in support of the development and implementation of the York University's international strategy and partnerships. The role also leads logistics for incoming and outgoing delegations, international leadership missions, with an understanding of protocols, diplomacy, greets and accompanies members of incoming delegations. The role will develop a specialized and detailed understanding of international higher education trends, funding opportunities for international collaboration and mobility schemes, and maintain York University's international profile. The role independently liaises with counterparts in the Office of the President, Vice- Presidents' Offices and other related academic and administrative leaders as well as all international offices at York partners (300 partners in 60 countries), to understand and consolidate international activities related to the University. The Manager, Global Partnerships, must exercise considerable interpersonal sensitivity, confidentiality, diplomacy and professionalism in building and maintaining relationships across the institution. The role will lead and coordinate projects on a wide variety of issues and topics related to the international priorities that flow from work and decisions from the York University's senior leadership (President, Vice-President, Vice-Presidential committees).
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in international relations and education. or equivalent combination of education and experience..
Experience:
- A minimum of five (5) years related experience in a similar role within an academic environment and/or government.
- Communications, event and project coordination experience is required.
- Demonstrated success in providing high level support to senior administrators.
- Experience in supporting high level delegations and knowledge of protocol is required.
Skills:
Knowledge
- Regional and International knowledge and experience. experience of living in a foreign country and facility in one or more languages is an asset.
- Knowledge and interest in higher education, York University's mission and priorities, and international affairs.

- Must possess strong organizational and event management skills - able to plan, organize and manage complex logistics for high level delegations and outgoing missions.

- Strong analytical skills: the ability to do independent research, conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis, and formulate recommendations.
- Must have excellent research skills with a focus on web-based research and statistical analysis.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proficiency in public/promotional speaking and the ability to write effectively, authentically, and in a manner consistent with the quality and standard expected of university-level communications. Fluency in a second language is desirable.
- Exceptional ability to prepare, handle, and communicate sensitive and highly confidential information with care.
- High degree of accuracy required. detailed orientated individual.
- Possess information management skills - able to identify, compile, access, and assess information and data effectively to deliver information requirements as requested by a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills including strong writing skills and ability to concisely summarize qualitative and quantitative information. Demonstrated ability in developing targeted communications for specific audiences and diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent skills in office IT systems, especially Word, Excel, and power point.
- Experience with Word Press or similar software experience with database management.
- Experience with bibliometric tools such as web of science and scopus (SciVal).
Additional Notes:
- Typical office environment with occasional international travel and working outside standard office hours, specifically for international delegations, projects, meetings and activities with international partners in different countries (time zones).

*Compensation:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
