Purpose:
The Executive Assistant (EA) acts as the primary contact for the Dean, Osgoode Hall Law School providing proactive, executive level, confidential administrative support. The scope of this position is driven by the complex range of responsibilities undertaken by the Dean and is based on an understanding of the confidential and sensitive nature of this role. This includes playing a leadership role in planning, implementing, and managing initiatives and activities that support the Dean's roles both internal and external in the School and University. This position provides administrative, operational, and logistical assistance to the Dean to facilitate and further the Dean's work, agenda and objectives in a broad range of academic and administrative areas.The Executive Assistant acts as a liaison between the Dean and multiple internal and external stakeholders. The EA will be responsible for managing key projects for the Office of the Dean.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, such as business, communication, humanities, or social sciences field.

Experience:
3 years of related experience.
Experience providing a full range of executive support to a senior leader or administrator in a complex institutional environment handling sensitive issues in a proficient and professional manner.
Experience in event and project management.

Knowledge:
Knowledge of higher education, University structure and senior administration.
Knowledge of management and public relations principles to manage the day-to-day activities relevant to a large, diverse organization.
Knowledge of governing legislation (e.g. FIPPA), policies and procedures to carry out administrative management responsibilities.
Knowledge of general office procedures.

Skills:
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Effective planning and organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload and meet timelines.
Effective problem identification and conflict resolution skills.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Skilled in proofreading, editing, and maintaining attention to detail.
Ability to provide effective service to the community and deal courteously and effectively with people at all levels.
Demonstrated tact and diplomacy in responding to emotional or demanding individuals.

Works within a typical office environment (actual and/or virtual).

*Compensation:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award. Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.Visit the CPM Compensation page on the HR Website to find out more about York's CPM Compensation Program.
