Purpose:

The Coordinator, Industry Partnerships plays an important role in the university's relationship and job development strategy with external industry partners to expand work-integrated learning and career education programming for our diverse population of students. The role builds networks of contacts and effectively champions a coordinated and student-centered approach by fostering mutual sharing of information and coordination with university and campus partners to maximize the benefit of industry relationships and reinforce York's brand.Reporting to the Manager, Industry Partnerships, the Coordinator is a key member in the university's industry partnerships team in developing and evaluating high-impact co-op programs, services, resources, and events that help our diverse population of students achieve their career goals and bolster York's reputation as a source of top talent. The Coordinator will support the vision, mission, values, and strategic direction of York University and contribute to a positive, supportive, and student-focused team environment of high performance, respect, trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement. embraces diversity and fosters inclusion.
Education:
University Degree in a related field such as Human Resource Management, Marketing, Business, Psychology, Communications, Arts, Humanities, or an equivalent of four years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
Experience:
Three (3) years of recent relevant experience in employer job development, co-operative education, work-integrated learning, career centre, campus recruitment, developing and maintaining relationships, including active outreach, lead generation and business development. Experience coordinating effective relationships with a wide variety of partners (including industry, employers, alumni, students, employees, faculty and community). experience in community and employer development. and with developing, coordinating and implementing events. using a Student Information System and/or similar database/customer relationship management system such as Orbis, Symplicity, Handshake, Salesforce, etc.
Skills:
Effective presentation and public speaking skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build quick rapport and relationships with employers and industry partners.
Ability to use CRM and job board platforms such as Experience York/Orbis, Symplicity, Handshake, Salesforce, etc.
Customer service-oriented.
Efficient relationship cultivation, building and maintenance skills.
Efficient organizational, project management and time management skills to cope with multiple projects and events occurring within short and overlapping time periods.
Able to manage conflicting demands, and able to work well under pressure.
Written communication in the form of reports and submitting content for marketing materials. Effective attention to detail.
Efficient computer skills including Microsoft 365, sourcing information and data using the Internet and social media sites such as LinkedIn.
Broad knowledge of trends in employer hiring practices, occupations, current labour market conditions and a general understanding of student and career development theories.
Ability to work as a team player.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle confidential material.
Ability to demonstrate initiative and flexibility. Self-motivated learner and commitment to personal and professional development.
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse university student population and have a genuine desire to meet the needs of students.
Proven research and analytical and reporting skills.
Additional Notes:
Please note: This position requires the candidate to produce a verification of degree(s), credentials(s), or equivalencies from accredited institutions and/or international equivalents at the time of interview. Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Some flexibility around hours of work may be required for site visits and for on and off campus presentations.Summer: Monday to Thursday, same as above; Friday 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
