Purpose:
Under the direction of the Director, Student & Community Engagement, the role provides front-line student and academic administrative support for the School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD). specifically, the Office of Advising and Integrated Student Services (OAISS). The role provides a high level of quality service to incoming and current students, on a broad range of topics directly related to student services, enrolment in courses, general advising, and student support.The role requires an appreciation of the work and timelines of the units' operation roles and responsibilities, while contributing to, and a supporting, a climate of student centeredness, service excellence and team collaboration.

Education:
College Diploma, with concentration in, Student Services, Communications, Education Studies, Business Administration, or other related field, or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.

Experience:
Two (2) years of recent experience, defined within the last 5 years, providing student support, including general academic advising, awards administration, student services, student recruitment, and communications. Training or work-related experience in the Arts would be considered an asset.

Able to provide effective student-focused service delivery and customer service.
Able to exercise tact, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with others.
Able to exercise good judgment and initiative, with proven professionalism and results-orientation.
Able to effectively deals with difficult and sensitive situations.
Able to maintain and safeguard confidential information.
Effective communication to obtain and relay information accurately and in an engaging manner.
Able to work effectively and accurately under pressure of high volume and frequent interruptions.
Ability to multi-task and maintain effective attention to detail.
Effective organizational skills including ability to set priorities and proactively pursue completion of tasks to meet deadlines.
Able to work independently as well as working effectively and collaboratively in a team and with other departments within the Faculty and across the University.
Intermediate MS Office (Word, Excel).
Proficient in Civitas, SIS, PES, FAAS.
