Purpose:
The Security Analyst contributes to the mission of the University by supporting the delivery of information security program. operating and administrating services that safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of university information systems and data, including on-premises and cloud infrastructures and services. This includes security investigations, assessments, monitoring and incident response for all faculty and staff groups as well as students and general York Community members using York's systems. The incumbent defends against cyber incidents and identifies, analyzes, communicates, and manages incident containment and resolution. The analyst provides and promotes awareness of information security among students, staff and faculty using crucial insights into security concerns and issues, as well as participating in projects and other proactive cyber initiatives.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, such as Computer Science, Information Security.
Certificate or specialization in cybersecurity.
Experience:
4 years related Information Technology experience with 1 year of cybersecurity and/or Identity and Access Management
Knowledge:
Thorough knowledge of common cybersecurity threats and exploits.
Knowledge of common types of vulnerabilities and detection methods.
Comprehensive knowledge of cybersecurity controls and methods of implementing those to maintain a secure environment.
Familiarity with security toolsets in common use, including intrusion detection systems, security event monitoring, vulnerability scanning and assessment, electronic triage and forensics.
Ability to conduct investigations, providing data and reports from digital media to be used in investigations.
Knowledge with software and security architectures to evaluate and develop approach to solutions, as well as installation, configuration and monitoring.
Skills:

Ability to solve IT and business problems that are often ambiguous or with unknowns.

On campus work is completed in a typical office environment.
Frequent computer usage.
Must be able to work 'on call' for incident response.

*Compensation:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
