Purpose:
York University is dedicated to supporting student success and ensuring that students have high quality experiential learning opportunities throughout their academic journey by providing every student equitable access to professional, integrated career education supports so they can graduate with the confidence to manage their careers in a constantly changing world.Reporting to the Associate Director, Co-op & Career Education Communications, the Manager, Events & Engagement will be responsible for increasing awareness for and engagement with the Co-op & Career Centre by strategically planning, implementing, facilitating, measuring and reporting on high impact events and engagements for students, employers and partners.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, such as Communications, Journalism, Professional Writing, or Marketing.

Experience:

4 years of related experience as well as event planning and/or project management experience.
2 years of management experience.
Experience in marketing
Experience in event planning and/or project management.
Experience working with senior leaders and high-profile events is required
Experience with complex multi-partner event coordination is required
Experience in a post-secondary environment is preferred

Skills:
Knowledge
In-depth knowledge and understanding of strategic event planning principles, including critical path planning, budget development and management, risk assessment and management, staffing, vendor management and reporting.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of marketing best practices and a willingness to keep abreast of the changing landscape
Working knowledge of managing in a unionized environment and applying a Collective Agreement.
Knowledge and understanding of Canadian and international legislation, ethical standards, and policy documents relating to marketing, data collection, privacy, and accessibility.

Skilled in managing high volumes of work with changing priorities and conflicting deadlines.
Able to initiate and improve processes and champions and supports change.
Effective communication skills.
Proficient with using MS Office Suite applications and Customer Relationship Management tools, including MS Dynamics, Mach Form, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.

*Compensation:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award. Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.Visit the CPM Compensation page on the HR Website to find out more about York's CPM Compensation Program.
