Purpose:
Launched in January 2015, the new School of Continuing Studies is rapidly expanding. One of the largest and most innovative of its kind in the country, it is introducing new market-based continuing professional education programs.The Program Manager is a key role in the development and management of continuing professional education programs. Reporting to the Director, Continuing Professional Education, Program Managers provide leadership in the creation, development, management, and ongoing refinement of new and existing programs in online, blended and in-class formats. Key to the success of each Program Manager is producing and maintaining high margin programs with high enrolments. Achievement of financial and enrolment targets is key to job performance and to the successful performance of the School. Program Managers have dynamic and varied portfolios consisting primarily of certificate programs, but also including university preparation, part-time undergraduate degree pathways, with the possibility of professional graduate programs in the future. They develop relationships on behalf of the School with external bodies, professional associations, and industry representatives, establishand manage advisory councils to ensure programming addresses top employer needs, provide direction in the development of program curriculum to subject matter experts, instructional developers, and other vendors, hire and manage instructors, work with marketing staff and market the programs, ensure quality control, provide program-specific leadership to cross-functional team members, and develop and manage program budgets and enrolment forecasts.
Education:
Masters degree in a relevant field (such as adult education or business) is preferred. Certificate, Diploma or other certification/qualification related to adult or online education is an asset.A relevant bachelors degree (such as adult education or business) combined with a Certificate, Diploma, or other certification/qualification related to adult or online education is acceptable.
Experience:
Requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, including three years of supervisory experience. Relevant experience includes e-learning, project management, instructional technology, curriculum development, instructional design, adult education, training & development, business development, business administration, market research, marketing, project management, financial and budget planning, and human resources. Experience with business management and responsibility for program budgets including revenue and costs is an asset.
Skills:
Skill in the design and management of online and blended courses and programs is essential. Market research, financial planning and management, and marketing are core skills.Requires strong supervisory and management skills, excellent verbal and written communication, effective negotiation, and superior planning and time management skills.Familiarity with the university environment and administration of academic programs is helpful. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills are important. Advanced skill in computer software including the ability to use custom databases and systems are important.

This position requires the candidate to produce a verification of degree(s), credentials(s), or equivalencies from accredited institutions and/or international equivalents at the time of interview.This position requires the successful candidate maintain a valid Driver's License and a produce a satisfactory Driver's Abstract. *Compensation:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
