Purpose:
The Executive Assistant/Special Projects Lead role provides efficient, professional, and confidential executive support to the Dean and the Office of the Dean in the Faculty of Education. Duties are broad, varied and often confidential in nature. Daily activities involve interaction with students, staff, faculty and high-level internal and external contacts and exposure to sensitive information requiring considerable use of initiative, tact, diplomacy, discretion, and judgement. The role assesses the importance and urgency of issues or problems that arise, addresses issues, or alerts relevant leadership of potential problems or conflicts. The role is responsible for managing key projects for the Office of the Dean. The role maintains a commitment to supporting sustainability, equity, diversity, and inclusion at York University.

Education:
Post-secondary diploma in relevant field.

Experience:
3 years of related experience providing executive support.
Project management experience is required.

Knowledge:
Knowledge of office procedures and practices relevant to executive level support.
Knowledge of FIPPA regulations.
Knowledge of higher education, University structure and senior administration or a similar environment.

Skills:
Effective communication skills.
Effective planning and organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload and meet timelines.
Project management skills.
Effective problem identification and conflict resolution skills.
Proofreading and editing skills.
Able to maintain attention to detail.
Ability to provide a high level of customer service to the community and deal courteously and effectively with others.
Demonstrated tact and diplomacy in responding to emotional or demanding individuals.
Analytical skills to research, interpret and present information.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.

*Compensation:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award. Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.Visit the CPM Compensation page on the HR Website to find out more about York's CPM Compensation Program.
