Purpose:

The Manager, Industry Partnerships oversees the university's relationship and job development strategy with external industry partners to expand work-integrated learning and career education programming for our diverse population of students. The incumbent builds networks of contacts and effectively champions a coordinated and student-centered approach by fostering mutual sharing of information and coordination with university and campus partners to maximize the benefit of industry relationships and reinforce York's brand.Reporting to the Director, Industry Partnerships, the Manager leads the university's industry partnerships team in developing and evaluating high-impact co-op programs, services, resources, and events that help our diverse population of students achieve their career goals and bolster York's reputation as a source of top talent. The Manager will support the vision, mission, values, and strategic direction of York University and contribute to a positive, supportive, and student-focused team environment of high performance, respect, trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement. embraces diversity and fosters inclusion.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, such as business, marketing, psychology.

Experience:
4 years of relevant experience.
2 years management experience.
Experience in management of a career center or co-op program.
Experience in co-op programs, employer engagement/job development, campus recruitment, and partnership development to support co-op, work-integrated learning and/or career education and development.
Experience in establishing employer relationships/contacts.
Experience in a business development role.
Experience developing effective partnerships with employers, industries, and levels of government.
Experience developing and managing funding programs specific to co-op/WIL employment.
Experience working with Marketing and Communications teams to develop marketing materials/strategies for campaigns including webinars, conference presentations, newsletter content, social media posts, and thought leadership pieces.
Experience with public speaking and brand representation.

Skills:
Comprehensive knowledge of co-operative education, business development, marketing, and campus recruiting practices, programs, and services.
Comprehensive knowledge of career development theory and practice, work-integrated learning, competency frameworks, and student development theory. sound understanding of labour market, changing economic conditions, and employment trends as it relates to students.
Comprehensive knowledge of government funding programs and grants that support co-operative education and work-integrated learning.
Comprehensive knowledge of program development, delivery, and evaluation/assessment.
Knowledge of effective management and leadership practices to create high-performing teams.
Comprehensive knowledge of recruitment practices that foster equity and inclusion for students.
In-depth understanding of the sales cycle.
Knowledge of current industry, labour market, and economic forecasting across Canada.
Effective relationship and partnership building skills.
Effective presentation skills to convey concepts.
Good communication skills and report writing skills, with an ability to communicate both qualitative and quantitative data effectively.
Effective leadership skills, with an ability to work collaboratively with, influence and motivate others.
Good interpersonal skills to negotiate initiatives and mediate conflict.
Adaptable and flexible to change.
Ability to embrace technology and apply it to program development.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
Effective judgment and problem-solving.
Ability to take initiative and exercise creativity.
Effective customer service and relationship management skills, with a service focus.
Effective organizational skills to document, track, and report on interactions and the status of each lead and collaboration within the official system of record.

*Compensation:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award. Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.Visit the CPM Compensation page on the HR Website to find out more about York's CPM Compensation Program.
