Purpose:
Osgoode Professional Development (OsgoodePD) is a revenue-generating professional education branch of Osgoode Hall Law School, operating within a highly competitive commercial market for professional and executive continuing education. OsgoodePD offers degree and non-degree programs to both local and international students. Offerings include full-time and part-time graduate degree LLMs, non-degree certificates, seminars and skills workshops, summer school and bridging programs, webinars, and custom training for corporations and government. Staff and programs are located at both the York University campus and OsgoodePD's downtown Toronto office. The Program Lawyer is responsible for developing and implementing cutting-edge conferences and certificate programs for OsgoodePD's non-degree Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program. The incumbent will plan a required number of days of continuing legal education programming annually in accordance with an approved schedule, including conducting program market research, drafting marketing communications, recruiting speakers and/or instructors, and coordinating the delivery of the program.

Education:
Canadian Bachelor of Law (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD), or successful completion of the National Committee of Accreditation (NCA) requirements, along with admission to the Bar in a Canadian Province.

Experience:
Three years' experience in law practice, equivalent law-related work experience or legal education.

Knowledge:
Deep understanding of various legal fields and current legal trends to ensure that programs and content are relevant and up to date.
Knowledge of instructional design principles to create engaging and effective educational programs.
Understanding of marketing strategies to effectively promote Continuing Legal Education programs and attract participants.
Familiarity with Continuing Legal Education requirements and regulations across different jurisdictions.

Skills:
Ability to conduct market research to identify the needs and preferences of the target audience.
Effective project management skills to plan, organize, structure and manage multiple tasks and deadlines to ensure smooth program execution.
Effective networking skills to collaborate with legal professionals, speakers and instructors for programs.
Effective written and verbal communication skills to draft marketing materials, program content and to respond to inquiries.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Effective business judgement on the financial viability of potential programs and the ability to maximize the financial return of programs.
Effective customer service skills and tact in interactions with instructors, registrants, administrative and support staff.

*Compensation:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
