Purpose:
The Research Administrative Coordinator (RAC) provides timely research related to financial and administrative support. This support includes monitoring research expenditures, resolving discrepancies, financial reconciliation, processing expense claims, coordinating programs under the Associate Dean, Research, and responding to multiple shared inboxes. Additionally, the Research Administrative Coordinator coordinates Osgoode's Research Assistant Program including processing and reconciling bi-weekly payroll. The RAC acts as a back-up to various roles at Osgoode that support research activities. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with York policies, granting agency guidelines, general accounting principles, Osgoode Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and respective timelines.

Education:
University degree in a related field, such as Business, Law, Social Sciences, Sociology or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at a post-secondary institution and performing the same or similar tasks. This educational equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.

Experience:
Two (2) years of recent (within the last five years) professional experience in an academic or research-focused administrative role, providing financial and operational support to research teams or Principal Investigators. Demonstrated experience or working knowledge of accounting principles and financial management practices, particularly in the context of sponsored research or grant-funded projects. Experience interpreting institutional and sponsor policies and supporting post-award processes is required.

Skills:
Demonstrated skills in writing and editing, including draft Memorandums of Understanding (MOU's).
Effective communication skills to elicit information and respond to inquiries with clear and concise information. Using tact and diplomacy are essential.
Knowledge and understanding of financial administration, accounting principles and post-award processes and has the skills to prepare budgets, track and reconcile cost centers, and create financial reports.
Ability to apply judgment and initiative and maintain strict confidentiality.
Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective organizational skills. Ability to work well under pressure of high volume. Setting priorities and coordinating multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines. Coordinating logistics and events.
Intermediate knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel required. Electronic calendar/scheduling software and email (Outlook).
Keyboarding 40-50 w.p.m., accuracy is essential.
