Purpose:

Our division is comprised of four departments:
Advancement Services & Operations is the administrative and technology support unit for all Advancement activities
Alumni Engagement provides programs, services, and engagement to over $380K+ alumni worldwide
Development leads efforts to promote and secure philanthropic support from alumni, donors, friends, corporations, and foundations
Advancement Communications & Marketing works to promote and communicate alumni and donor messages along with direct marketing services for alumni and donor engagement

Under the direction of the Associate Director, Convocation & Advancement Events, the Ceremonies Coordinator supports this mission by providing ceremonies, events and communications support for University Events and Ceremonies. The Ceremonies Coordinator facilitates the integration of ceremonies, events, and communication initiatives to promote and enhance stakeholder relations, foster growing levels of engagement and support for the University. The incumbent acts as a resource to university ceremonies, events, coordinating communications and marketing initiatives.

Education:
College diploma in one of the following areas: Event Management, Theatre Production, Public Relations, or Hospitality or two years' recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below. Knowledge of fundraising professional standards and ethics. Knowledge of protocol and diplomacy.

Experience:
Three (3) years in the Ceremonies and/or Events, including:
Project Management
Event coordination
Developing work-back schedules and critical paths
Making recommendations on scope of work and resources needed
Supervising student staff and/or volunteers

Skills:
Demonstrated skills including:
Accuracy in grammar, spelling and content verification
Effective oral and written communication skills including the ability to write and edit a broad range of communications
Tact, courtesy and discretion are essential
Basic videography skills and ability to use digital SLR camera
Ability to work effectively under pressure of high volume and daily deadlines
Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment

Demonstrated computer skills including:
Intermediate desktop publishing (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign)
Basic photo editing (Adobe Photoshop)
Intermediate web design (HTML, CSS, WordPress)
Advanced word processing (MS Word)
Intermediate presentation software (MS PowerPoint)
Advanced e-mail service provides (Microsoft Click Dimensions)
Intermediate spreadsheets (MS Excel)
Intermediate Project Management software
Basic database management (MS Access)
Basic knowledge of Student Information System(s)
