Our division is comprised of four departments:
Advancement Services & Operations is the administrative and technology support unit for all Advancement activities.
Alumni Engagement provides programs, services, and engagement to over 360,000 York alumni worldwide.
Development leads efforts to promote and secure philanthropic support from alumni, donors, friends, corporations, and foundations.
Advancement Communications & Marketing works to promote and communicate alumni and donor messages, along with direct marketing services for alumni and donor engagement.

In support of this mission, the Associate Director of Annual and Leadership Giving Marketing develops and implements strategies and programs that identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward annual gifts from governors, alumni, parents, faculty/staff and friends. These strategies include best practices and innovative multi-channel marketing outreach initiatives focused on growth within digital giving, including direct mail, email, online giving, digital advertising, texting, and other innovative channels.
The Associate Director directs this activity, reaching more than 150,000 prospective donors each year with a goal of securing gifts of up to $25,000. Annual giving ($1-$999) gift revenue goal of $500,000-$1,000,000 in the first year with growth expected in subsequent years. The Associate Director also plays a pivotal role in all annual and leadership giving revenue (gifts under $25,000) with a revenue goal of $2,500,000-$3,500,000 in the first year with growth expected annually. Work is conducted in collaboration with the University-wide Development team, the decentralized Advancement offices in Schulich, Osgoode, and Glendon, with a view to achieving as broad and as loyal a donor base as possible.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and fundraising experience, specifically in an educational setting.
Qualification to complete the Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation within 3 years of start date is required.
Experience:
5 years of related experience with 4 years of management experience in a successful annual fund operation with required call centre management experience, preferably in a unionized environment. University fundraising experience an asset.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of Annual Giving channels with a preference to online and digital channels.
Knowledge of fundraising CRM systems.
Knowledge of Annual Giving best practices and trends.
Knowledge of online giving systems.
Knowledge of fundraising principles.
Skills:
Proven track record of annual giving fundraising success.
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices associated with annual giving fundraising in higher education including direct mail, telephone solicitations, online giving, e-giving, and giving tied to social networking platforms.
Mature management and communication skills, the ability to shepherd a targeted effort within a larger and more complex division, and the operational skills to ensure effective tactical project management.
Strong results-orientation.
Ability to work well with people at all levels of an organization.
Demonstrated ability to lead an annual giving fundraising team.
Strong analytical, research, interpretative, and evaluation skills
A strong commitment to customer service.
Strong ability to make highly effective formal and informal presentations to diverse groups, large and small.
Effective communication skills and ability to write for the post-secondary and fundraising environments to advance fundraising cases for support and to develop strategic advancement plans.
Excellent project management, prioritization and time-management skills are required to manage multiple ongoing projects simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Competency with word-processing and spreadsheet applications, fundraising and prospect management databases and Internet skills.
Strong computer and analytical skills are required along with excellent writing skills.

*Compensation:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
