Purpose:

The Faculty offers a broad range of undergraduate and graduate programs including Global Health, Health Policy & Management, Kinesiology and Health Science, Nursing, and Psychology. Reporting to the Dean, Faculty of Health and working closely with the Executive Officer (EO) and senior leadership team (SLT), the Manager is responsible for the overall operations and support to the Office of the Dean in the Faculty of Health. These duties are broad, varied and can be confidential in nature. The role is accountable for managing the flow of communication, all information and records management and maintenance for the Office of the Dean and faculty, preparation of business development and thought leadership presentations, development and implementation of project plans, supervision of administrative staff and efficient, professional, confidential support to the Dean, EO and SLT. Daily activities involve interaction with staff, executive offices, and high-level internal and external contacts and officials, with exposure to confidential information requiring considerable use of initiative, tact, diplomacy, discretion, and excellent judgment to provide informed guidance and support appropriate decision-making. The role assists with all aspects of faculty affairs, project management, faculty recruitment, event coordination, administrative and office management, coordination of senior leadership meetings, and strategic program research and development. The role keeps apprised of issues that arise, assesses their importance and urgency, informs senior leadership and works to resolve the issue. The Manager, Office of the Dean is responsible for strategically meeting the demands of a challenging, diverse, and high-volume work environment.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline. Note: Position requires verification of degree(s)/credential(s).

Experience:
4 years of related experience providing a full range of executive support to a senior leader or administrator in a complex institutional environment.
2 years of management or supervisory experience.
Experience with project management and event planning.
Experience developing compelling written and visual communications for a wide variety of audiences.

Skills:
Knowledge
Knowledge of general office procedures and practice.
Knowledge of employment legislation.
Knowledge of higher education, healthcare environments, and complex institutional environments to write for internal and external audience and develop presentation/content outlines.Skills
Effective communication skills including the ability to convey messages that can be understood across all levels of the organization from the ground level through the executive and board level.
Effective planning, organizational and project tracking skills with the ability to multi-task and comprehend new information quickly and balance priorities.
Effective and highly collaborative interpersonal skills, including listening and questioning skills, and the ability to build rapport across the institution while quickly and confidently gaining respect of others.
Ability to exercise good judgment, initiative, and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to build relationships, negotiate and influence, and manage change in a complex environment.
Ability to manage in a team environment and monitor performance, including effective conflict resolution skills.
Able to apply cross-cultural sensitivity to work effectively with diverse groups of students, faculty and staff.
Able to adapt to change, new ideas, technology, and practices.
Proficient with MS Office suite including Word, Excel, Teams, Power Point, and Outlook.

Additional Notes:
Normal office work environment.
May be required to work extended hours.

*Compensation:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
