Purpose:
The Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies (LA&PS) is the largest Faculty at York University with over 23,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and almost 100 programs delivered through 24 Departments, Schools and Colleges. Through innovative course design, diverse experiential education and learning opportunities, and a supportive community environment, our students receive the education they need to create big ideas that have an impact on the world.The Program and Academic Support Assistant (PASA) provides main, front desk support staff in the academic unit as well as the Writing and Open Learning Centres. Provides general information and direction to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Provides undergraduate program and course support for the academic unit. The PASA provides continuity, historical perspective, and transitional support to Chair, UPD, and/or Writing Centre Director during their term appointments.The PASA supports the vision, mission, values and strategic direction of the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies and York University, and contributes to a positive, supportive and client-focused team environment of high performance, respect, trust, collaboration and continuous improvement. Education:
High school diploma with some post-secondary education (e.g. some University or College courses).

Experience:
Two (2) years of administrative experience in an academic School/Department providing degree or certificate information to students and supporting academic and administrative processes including academic hiring processes..

Skills:
Effective communication skills, including the ability obtain accurate information, record minutes, answer detailed enquiries clearly and concisely, and listen empathically.
Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal courteously, tactfully, and effectively with external partners, students, faculty, and staff, and maintain confidentiality.
Effective attention to detail, including accurate proofreading and cross-referencing skills.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team in an environment of high volume and competing priorities.
Ability to exercise good judgment and flexibility in an environment of continuous change and process improvement.
Effective planning, organizational and time management skills to cope with conflicting deadlines, multiple tasks, projects and events occurring within short and overlapping time periods
Effective analytical skills, including the ability to collect and analyze data and prepare reports for various audiences, in a variety of formats..
Word processing 40-45 w.p.m., accuracy essential.
Advanced MS Word, Outlook, Intermediate MS Excel. Functionality with WordPress, CRM platforms, Learning Management Systems, and Student Information Systems.
Ability to adapt to new and emerging technologies.
Knowledge of academic administration processes (course scheduling, curriculum support).
Knowledge of York's Academic Integrity procedures.
Knowledge of degree and program requirements.
Knowledge of utilizing degree progress report.
Knowledge of the development and preparations of promotional materials and written content.
