Purpose:
The Faculty of Health is York University's second largest Faculty, with approximately ten-thousand undergraduate majors, approximately six hundred and fifty graduate students and over 50,000 alumni. The Faculty of Health offers a wide range of undergraduate degree programs and specializations, including Global Health, Health Studies (with specializations in Health Policy, Health Management and Health Informatics), Kinesiology and Health Science, Neuroscience, Nursing, and Psychology. Our undergraduate degree options include the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Health Studies, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Our degree programs are complemented by several certificate options. At the graduate level, Masters and Doctoral degrees are offered in Critical Disabilities, Health, Kinesiology and Health Science, Nursing, and Psychology. Kinesiology and Health Science, Nursing and Psychology are regulated health professions under the Regulated Health Professions Act. The Faculty is currently spread over fifteen (15) buildings and is home to six (6) Canada Research Chairs and three (3) Faculty-based Organized Research Units (ORUs), as well as a MRI Facility. The Manager, Health, Safety and Facilities is responsible for managing and maintaining the physical space of the organizational unit, and acts as the primary health and safety officer and subject matter expert. The position ensures that infrastructure projects, from conception to completion, meet current needs and anticipated future needs of the organizational unit, and are completed safely, on time, on budget, meeting the required quality standards. The Manager, Health, Safety and Facilities provides leadership and advice to a broad range of stakeholders to support confidential physical space related work accommodations. This position further supports sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion at York University.
Education:
Post-secondary degree in Planning, Construction, Facilities Management or a relevant field.
Project Management Professional (PMP)
Health and Safety Certification
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of related experience, including 3 years of management experience.
Project management and financial management experience
Skills:
Knowledge
- Working knowledge of managing in a unionized environment and applying a collective agreement.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, standards and practices.
- Basic familiarity with materials, tools and equipment
- Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code and Ontario Electrical Safety Code
- Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities (AODA)
- Knowledge of relevant employment standards.Skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

- Excellent planning and organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload and meet timelines.

*Compensation:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award. Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.Visit the CPM Compensation page on the HR Website to find out more about York's CPM Compensation Program.
*Please note this role is fully on-site, with attendance required on campus five (5) days per week. Hybrid and remote work options are not available.
