Purpose:

The school is comprised of the following: Juris Doctor (JD) Program, Graduate Programs (Research LLM, PhD in Law, and Professional LLM), Osgoode Professional Development (OsgoodePD), Law Library, Community and Legal Aid Services Program, and the Law Commission of Ontario.The Research Grants Coordinator supports the faculty's research mission by coordinating research grant development, funding applications, faculty recognition initiatives, and research administration activities. Working closely with faculty members, the Associate Dean, Research, and university partners, the role provides administrative and operational support throughout the research lifecycle, including grant submissions, award nominations, research reporting, scholarly publications, and special initiatives. The role helps ensure compliance with funding requirements, facilitates research-related processes and communications, and contributes to the advancement and visibility of the faculty's research enterprise.
Education:
University degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Humanities, Law, Higher Education Administration, Communications, or other related field or an equivalent of 4 years' recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at a post-secondary institution and performing the same or similar tasks. This educational equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
Experience:
Three (3) years of recent experience supporting research funding applications and research or academic administration. Experience coordinating projects. Experience preparing reports, funding applications, award nominations and communication materials.
Skills:
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to elicit information and respond to inquiries with clear and concise information.
- Effective editing and proofreading skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective organizational skills, including the ability to work well under pressure of high volume.
- Ability to set priorities and coordinate multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines.
- Ability to coordinate event logistics.
- Ability to interpret granting agency guidelines, university policies, and research-related procedures.
- Effective analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgement, and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
- Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to use database management tools. Knowledge:
- Knowledge and understanding of financial administration, accounting principles and post-award processes and has the skills to prepare budgets, track and reconcile cost centers, and create financial reports.
